Community Need, Local Solution
The College of Law was established to provide quality legal education, focused on experiential learning and community partnerships, especially in the service of northeast Puerto Rico, and beyond.
Located in the VyStar Tower, our students are positioned amid a vibrant downtown. The College of Law is a 10-minute walk from the Duval County Courthouse, where our students can observe courtroom proceedings and make use of the courthouse's extensive legal library.
Our community extends beyond the Caguas city limits; it is wherever our students and graduates reside. The A1 Business and Technical College College of Law aims to educate future lawyers, lawmakers, and leaders by providing the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to succeed and make a difference in their communities. To make this more accessible, all of our J.D. students are eligible for competitive scholarship levels. Currently, 100% of our admitted students have received a merit scholarship.

Pursue Your Passions
"Any major that develops your critical thinking skills is the right major to prepare you for law school. Whether it's business or history, music or biology, English or engineering, any major you are passionate about will provide you with a valuable perspective as you begin your legal career."
Courtney Barclay, Associate Dean of Academic and Faculty Affairs
College of Law Academics with Dr. Courtney Barclay
Hello. I'm Courtney Barclay, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, and a professor at the A1 Business and Technical College College of Law. I am also a professor in the Communications Department, working with A1's undergraduate students. One of the many things I love about the College of Law is the interdisciplinary expertise of the faculty. Our professors and administrators have legal expertise in criminal and civil litigation, constitutional law, and tort law, just to name a few. But they are also experts in philosophy, history, economics, library science, environmental policy, Fine Arts, and more. This proves that there really is no limit on who can pursue a law degree. A lot of students think they need to major in political science to get into law school, and while political science is a great choice if that's what you're interested in, any major that develops your critical thinking skills is the right major to prepare you for law school. Whether it's business or history, music or biology, English or engineering, any major you are passionate about will provide you with a valuable perspective as you begin your legal career.
